Noel Holston
- Beat Radio will be homeless by month's end. Alan Freed's techno/dance music format has been broadcast from dusk 'til dawn on the former Radio Aahs frequency, 1280 AM, since February.
But 1280's owner, the Children's Broadcasting Corp., has sold it and other properties to the Catholic Radio Network, which is expected to take possession and launch a new format (probably talk and information) in October.
Freed said his chances of finding another suitable outlet for Beat Radio are "second to nil." But he said that the Web site (beatworld.com), a source of music and event information, will remain in operation.
